At the Department of Zoology, we offer a comprehensive academic experience that blends an understanding of the animal kingdom with cutting-edge research. Zoology explores life’s diversity, addressing key issues like biodiversity, conservation, and environmental change.

Our mission is to inspire curiosity and a passion for learning. Through a mix of theory, lab work, and field study, we prepare students for careers in wildlife biology, ecology, genetics, and more.

We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive environment where students can apply their knowledge to real-world challenges. Our dedicated faculty members mentor students in building strong scientific and analytical skills, helping them contribute to the protection of our natural environment.

Mission and Vision

Mission

The Department of Zoology aims to provide top-quality education and research in animal sciences, fostering an understanding of biodiversity, ecology, evolution and physiology. We strive to inspire a passion for learning, equip students with scientific skills and address challenges in conservation and sustainability. Through interdisciplinary approaches and collaborations, we promote ethical research and prepare students for careers in academia, industry and conservation.

Vision

The department envisions becoming a leader in zoological education and research, advancing knowledge and addressing global environmental issues. We aim to expand research in emerging areas, promote collaboration and contribute to biodiversity conservation while educating the public and striving to contribute towards sustainable policies.

Departmental Achievements

The Department of Zoology feels proud of the achievements of its distinguished alumni, who have excelled in their different fields. Naincy Kumari (M.Sc. 2017-19) is currently serving as Assistant Section Officer at Patna High Court. Neeraj Kumar Mehta (B.Sc. 2015-18, M.Sc. 2018-20) holds the position of Inspector at CGST & CX, CBIC. Manisha, a topper in the university for M.Sc. (2017-19), has recently cleared the prestigious NET JRF in 2024. These are some of the examples which reflect the successes achieved by our alumni and the department. The department is committed to providing a strong academic foundation, fostering students’ growth and preparing them for impactful careers across diverse fields
