As the head of the department of sociology, I’m pleased to share that the college I attended, magadh university, holds paramount importance.The study of sociology has been a significant part of our academic offerings since 1975. Throughout this journey, from the first chairperson of the department, professor Dr. Pushpa Chandra, to the present day, we have upheld the integrity and advancement of our department. thanks to the cooperation and collaborative spirit of all heads of department, faculties, staffs and students. The strength of our department is evidenced by the consistent enrollment of 70 students each academic session, filling all available seats. Which is indeed a matter of great pride. The Gaya mahavidyalaya, department of sociology currently offers both bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

Sociology, as the name suggests,Is the filled that studies society,encompassing the collective of which we are all members.The more we discuss the significance of this discipline, the more we realise that sociology inherently includes various subjects, addressing political events, religious contexts, economic fluctuations and geographical changes that are all integral to society.As members of the community, we are continually influenced by these diverse factors. This discipline focuses on human society itself, thereby enhancing students understanding and knowledge. The practical relevance of sociology is evident in the emergence of informed and capable citizens, with students’ skills contributing significantly to national development. We anticipate the cooperation of both students and parents for the advancement of our department.To foster intellectual growth among students.We regularly organize workshops,seminars,group discussions,special lectures and other programs.I extend my gratitude to the Principal of Gaya college, Gaya Dr. satish Singh Chandra, for his instrumental role in the successful execution of these programs. Additionally I Would like to express my appreciation to the respected Vice chancellor, Dr.shashi pratap Shahi of magadh university, bodhgaya whose vision and guidance have set our department and the entire college on a path of continuous progress.

Ultimately, as the Head of the department, I look forward to the collaboration of everyone involved so that we can utilize our available resources effectively and continue to reach new heights of successs.
